Burhan Gülbahar received the B. S. and M. S. degrees in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Bilkent University, Ankara, Turkey, in 1999 and 2002, respectively. He had been a research assistant at Next-generation and Wireless Communications Laboratory (NWCL) and has received his Ph. D. degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Koç University, Istanbul, Turkey in January 2012. Dr. Gulbahar is currently an Asst. Prof. Dr. at the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering and the director of Applied Research Center of Technology Products, Ozyegin University, Istanbul, Turkey.  His current research interests are in nanoscale design with 2D materials, quantum computing and communications, neuromorphic computing, Internet-of-Things and consumer electronics. Dr. Gulbahar is a Senior Member of IEEE (Communications Society) and a Member of Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and Institute of Physics (IOP).

Dr. Gulbahar received Finalist Award (in a group of seven finalist projects) among more than 250 projects in Bell Labs Prize 2015 global competition with his nanorobot themed project. He received Faculty Information Transfer Excellence Award from Ozyegin University, Istanbul, Turkey in 2017 for the achievements in information transfer in national and international platforms. He was serving as an Editor for the International Journal of Distributed Sensor Networks (Hindawi) in 2015. He has served in technical program committees of international conferences on communications and networking. He has served as a Technical Program Committee (TPC) member of various conferences including IEEE Symposium on Computers and Communications (ISCC) (2012-2018), IEEE WoWMoM Workshop on the Internet of Things  (2012-2018), IEEE Computing Conference (CC) (2018-2019), IEEE Future Technologies Conference (FTC) (2018) and as a member of Jury & Advisory committee of Turkish Electro Technology Exporters’ Association (TET) R&D Project Market Event, Istanbul, Turkey (2012-2014).
