BioCrete

BIOCRETE

An eco-friendly cement based mortar with adaptive performance

Quality and performance of a cement-based mixture generally evaluated based on workability, strength and durability. Since 2000’s due to the rising environmental concerns Sustainability became of the most important parameters in evaluating the performance of cement-based mixes

BioCrete is a sustainable and self-healing cement-based based grout with improved rheology and segregation resistance.

BioCrete is developed in Özyeğin University Construction Materials Laboratory and the research stage was financially granted by TÜBİTAK 1005- National New Ideas and Products R&D Funding Program.

What is BioCrete?

BioCrete is an environmentally friendly cement-based mortar that is suitable for repair, grouting, extrusion and spraying applications in the field.

Bacterial cells were adapted specifically to be used as viscosity modifying admixture (VMA) and self-healing agent in hydraulic cementitious materials like cement, gypsum and lime.

Bacterial cells enable improved rheological performance a higher degree of thixotropy, greater low shear rate viscosity and resistance to segregation compared to control grouts.
