About me

I am an aeronautical engineer and does research in the field of thermo-fluid dynamics. I completed my doctorate study on turbulent flows in 2006 at FAU Fluid Mechanics Institute (LSTM) in Erlangen Germany, directed by Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Franz Durst.

I founded and managed the “Unsteady Fluid Mechanics” and “Fluid Dynamics and Turbulence” research groups in 2002 and 2010 respectively at FAU-LSTM. I have acquired and conducted more than 30 industry oriented projects and 9 basic research projects. My projects have been supported by the EU, the German Research Foundation (DFG), German Aerospace Center (DLR), The German Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBITAK), Bavarian Research Foundation (BFS), SIEMENS, BMW, Audi, VW, Boehringer Ingelheim, Roche, ATOTECH, ARCELIK, BOSCH, Ford-Otosan and other companies.

I use the experimental and computational methods in a complimentary manner. I conduct research on transition and turbulence, technological applications of turbulent flows, multi-phase flows, stimulated unsteady flows, optimization of flow devices and processes, micro fluids dynamics and wind turbine design & optimization. I have  participated in planning and conducting tests under harsh conditions: The diffusion measurements at zero-gravity environment created during the parabolic flight and turbulence measurement on in the Bosphorus strait are two examples. I have participated in two parabolic flight campaigns and 90 parabolic flight maneuvers.

I have 3 patents, 15 refereed journal publications and more than 40 conference presentations. I held post graduate lectures at FAU, FAU-Busan and OzU on fluid mechanics. I  worked as a mentor at FAU Institute of Advanced Optic Technologies. I supervised for more than 30 thesis studies and 11 doctorate studies (7 of which still in progress). In 2013, I established a master’s degree program titled “the Wind Energy Specialists” at FAU branch in Busan Korea. Since September 2013, I have been working at OzU as an assistant professor and responsible for fluid mechanics and related subjects both in education and research. I am also working as a scientific consultant to the LSTM at FAU.
