Hüsnü Ata Erbay received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Mathematics from the Istanbul Technical University in 1980 and 1982, respectively and his Ph.D. in 1988 from the same university. He served at the Istanbul Technical University, TUBITAK Marmara Research Institute, University of Victoria (Canada) and Isik University. In 1995, he was promoted to full professor in the Department of Mathematics at the Istanbul Technical University and from 2004 to 2010 he served as Director of the Graduate School of Science and Engineering at Isik University. He joined the faculty of the School of Arts and Sciences at Ozyegin University in October 2011.
He was awarded the TUBITAK Incentive Award (Mathematics) in 1994 and the Sedat Simavi Science Award in 1996 for his research in the area of Applied Mathematics. He was elected a member of the Science Academy of Turkey in April 2013. He was awarded the Ozyegin University Faculty Excellence Award in Research in 2016 and the Ozyegin University Faculty Excellence Award in Service in 2023. He is a member of the Turkish Mathematical Society.
