Research Opportunities in City Logistics and Machine Learning

Özyeğin University is looking for highly motivated and talented individuals to join the Industrial Engineering Department. We are seeking:

  • 1 Master’s student
  • 2 Ph.D. students
  • Postdoctoral researchers

These roles will engage in innovative research projects focusing on city logistics and machine learning techniques to tackle real-world challenges under the supervision of Professor Okan Örsan Özener.

About the Projects

Participants will engage in cutting-edge research addressing urban transportation and logistics challenges. Leveraging advanced machine learning algorithms, the projects aim to optimize processes, enhance efficiency, and develop smart city logistics solutions. Research areas include theoretical advancements and practical implementations, contributing to sustainable urban logistics and impactful decision-making tools.

Scholarship and Benefits (Performance-Based)

Doctorate Scholarship (Ph.D.):

  • Monthly Stipend: 34,000 TL
  • Accommodation: Free dorm room (double occupancy) or a 6,000 TL monthly transportation subsidy
  • Qualification Bonus: 5,000 TL after passing the qualification exam
  • Health Insurance: Comprehensive private coverage
  • Technology Support: Laptop or desktop computer
  • Conference Participation: Fully funded at least once during the program
  • Tuition Waiver: 100%

Master’s Scholarship:

  • Monthly Stipend: 24,000 TL
  • Accommodation: Free dorm room (double occupancy) or a 6,000 TL monthly transportation subsidy
  • Health Insurance: Comprehensive private coverage
  • Technology Support: Laptop or desktop computer
  • Conference Participation: Fully funded at least once during the program
  • Tuition Waiver: 100%

Postdoctoral Researchers:

  • Gross Monthly Salary: 80,000–85,000 TL
  • Office Space: Dedicated workspace
  • Technology Support: Laptop or desktop computer included
  • Insurance: Comprehensive private health insurance
  • Professional Development: Opportunities for conferences and networking

Note: All scholarships and salaries are based on the performance of the candidates throughout their tenure.

Candidate Profile

For Ph.D. and Postdoctoral Researchers:

  • A Ph.D. in operational research, computer science, industrial engineering, applied mathematics, or a related field.

For Master’s Positions:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in the above-mentioned fields.

Required Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of operational research, machine learning, and data analysis.
  • Hands-on experience with mathematical programming, modeling, and metaheuristic algorithms.
  • Proficiency in Python and C++ programming.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English.

Additional for Postdoctoral Researchers:

  • Experience in preparing grant proposals and securing research funding.
