Ayse Karagoz
M.Sc. Ayse Karagoz (Ph.D. )

She received her BS from Chemical Engineering Department at Anadolu University, Turkey in 2007. She had strong interest in the field of bio-nano, especially biomaterials. Hence, she focused on synthesis and characterization of micelle-forming, biocompatible, biodegradable and positively charged polymeric biomaterials and their application in gene therapy and drug delivery systems, during her MS which she received from Bioengineering Department at Yildiz Technical University, Turkey in 2009. After her MS, she continued her academic career as a PhD student at Yildiz Technical University. Since March 2010 she has been involved in a Marie Curie International Reintegration Grant project under the advisory of Dr. Bahar Basim at Ozyegin University, Turkey. The project title is “Nano-Scale Protective Oxide Films for Semiconductor Applications & Beyond”.

Wazir Akbar Shinwari (Msc Student)

He graduated from the department of mechanical engineering at the University of Engineering and Technology Peshawar Pakistan in January 2013.
His final year project was ”Wind resistant stability criteria of tubular wind turbine tower”. The project was funded by SUPARCO (Space and Upper Atmosphere Research commission: National Space Agency of Pakistan).
During his undergraduate studies he was selected among the top 100 students from all over Pakistan for Global UGRAD exchange program in the USA. He was placed in the department of mechanical and aerospace engineering at the University of Alabama in Huntsville for one semester: fall 2011.
He is currently doing MS in mechanical engineering. His research project is about developing tick repellent textiles. Main objective of the research is to develop novel multifunctional textile structures that include biological active compounds, to prevent the spreading of infectious diseases like Borreliosis and other tick-borne diseases.

Taylan Acar (BSc Student)

Mr. Taylan Acar received his High School degree from Cağaloğlu Anadolu Lisesi, Istanbul, Turkey. He enrolled Ozyegin University Mechanical Engineering Department in 2010 and started his research efforts with Dr. Basim on nano-technology. He is involved in nano particle synthesis through chemical reactions and also studies the behavior of colloidal systems at interfaces. He is interested in the design of slurries for the Chemical Mechanical Planarization (CMP) process and the surface interactions of biomaterials.
